June is Blood Health Month!

As we welcome June, we are finally getting some warmer weather in Maine. After a long and snowy winter, we are happy for longer days and being surrounded by so much green.

As we usher out May’s Celiac Awareness Month, we at Gluten Free Therapeutics have been so impressed with the content we have seen around from our friends in the gluten-free community. There was so much involvement and the quantity was matched in quality. Social media was buzzing with facts, recipes, gluten-free resources, product review and stories of personal struggle.

Celiac Central’s provided webinars, a virtual toolkit and their “Heroes Within Us” campaign shared stories of diagnosis and the ups and down of living gluten free. The heroes’ stories were captivating and echoed familiar struggles of so many members of our community.

The Celiac Disease Foundation provided a 7-day gluten-free meal plan to help those with celiac disease, or gluten sensitivities and their families transition to a gluten-free diet. During the month the Foundation also asked for participation in their Team Gluten Free Challenge, encouraging people to live without gluten to raise money and awareness.

But all the information and awareness will not stop with the end of May at Gluten Free Therapeutics because we are celebrating Balanced Blood Health all month long.

You might ask yourself, “why is blood health important?”

A lot of people know about what gluten is, where it can be found and the physical effects of consuming gluten with celiac disease. There is a wide range of health issues associated with the disease, which often makes it so difficult to diagnose.

Gluten Free Therapeutics Vice President Taylor Reynolds struggled with anemia and osteopenia after her diagnosis of celiac disease in 2005.

When celiac disease is left untreated, the small intestine is damaged and thus unable to properly absorb nutrients, including iron, causing anemia. (This can also be the case when a person is newly diagnosed and slowly healing their gut.)

Anemia can also often be the result of a suffering from a chronic inflammation, like celiac disease over a long period of time, interfering with the body’s production of red blood cells.

Taylor’s struggle was the reason GFT created Celi•Vites specifically designed for Balanced Blood Health. The ingredients were designed specifically for healthy red blood cell development, including Ferrochel® a patented form of chelated iron, folic acid, B12 and PureWay-C® a form of vitamin C for increased iron absorption.

So check back often, learn more about balanced blood health and as always thank you for reading.
